California as pilot city which can control Smoking habit

You never imagine that California becomes pilot city which can control Smoking habit when we see there are many progress there.

Rules of the smoking ban does not necessarily able to stop people to do the habit.

But according to a new study , a total smoking ban in the home or town may increase the tendency of smokers to reduce or even stop it .

Wael Al - Delaimy , chair of global health division , department of family and prevention of diseases of the University of California , San Diego , said , when there is a total ban on smoking is more likely to make smokers reduce or even stop the habit , compared to if the ban only applies in most rooms only .
" The same thing happened to the smoking ban in a particular city or region . Prohibition of smoking completely on the house or the city more effectively , " he added .

The findings come from surveys of more than 1,700 smokers in California . Total smoking ban in the home or public place relating to a reduction in the number of smokers in comparison with other regions that only partially imposed restrictions .

According to a study published in the journal Preventive Medicine , a total ban at home are more effective in reducing the number of smokers among women and the elderly over 65 years .
While a total smoking ban in the city increases the likelihood of men to kick the habit , but not in women .

The researchers also found that a ban on smoking in the home is more effective to stop smoking in the house without the kids .

This is probably because the purpose of the smoking ban in the home without children is purely to reduce smoking, not to prevent children from exposure to secondhand smoke .

According to Al - Delaimy , studies show the importance of smoking bans in the home and city .
" California was the first region in the world to impose a ban on smoking in public places since 1994 . And until now , the positive impact of it we can see from the increasing number of homes and cities that impose the same rules , " he concluded .
