Is it true about the risk of Facebook depression?
According to a recent study that was held the Faculty of Medicine and Public Health University of Wisconsin, we actually do not have to worry about the risk of 'Facebook depression'.
However, last year, the American Academy of Paediatrics released a report on the effects of social media in children and adolescents. Seen, that exposure to Facebook can cause depression. Results were also published the Journal of Adolescent Health.
The study, led by Lauren Jelenchick and Megan Moreno of Wisconsin examined 190 students aged between 18 and 23 years using real-time assessment of internet activity and clinically validated for screening depression.
The students were surveyed with a questionnaire of 43 text messages at random intervals during the seven days between February and December 2011. The students were asked whether they are online, how long they have been online, and what they do on the internet.
The study found that most participants have a Facebook account. When Moreno Jelenchick and evaluate data including the results of depression screening, they found no significant association between the use of social media and the probability of depression.
"Our study is the first to present scientific evidence on the suggested link between the use of social media and the risk of depression," said Jelenchick, who recently received a master's degree in public health from the School of Medicine and Public Health Wisconsin.
Still, that Moreno is a pediatrician advised the parents to see and limit the use of social media by children.
Even though it has no evidence that Facebook can lead to depression risk, but still many people who are always accessing social networking sites every day. So, right to play FB can make you stressed?
