Andre , a call center agent 25 -year -old came to the Specialist Obstetrician - gynecologist Dr . Alice M. Sun - Cua at the San Juan de Dios Hospital in Pasay City , Philippines , because of itching in her vulva . She also had a thick discharge like cottage cheese .

Candida infection is also often the first sign of diabetes . So do not be surprised if your doctor asks about family history of diabetes . Or if you are obese , do blood sugar tests .

Doctors usually also will examine female partner who had candida infection . This is due to candida infection can be transmitted to a sexual partner . Does not mean treating the infection will recur pair . However , there are many cases of women who are not sexually active may have the infection .
