The researchers stressed that women who undergo breast cancer treatment should not be concerned with the findings. They also said the research could lead to improvements in the ability of doctors to choose the best treatment for breast patients with the condition of obesity.
"Our findings are based on laboratory studies, so we need to conduct clinical trials to tell us whether women with higher BMI would benefit from changes in their treatment," said Mitch Dowsett, senior author of the study, as quoted from HealthDay.

Research conducted in the UK are studied 54 postmenopausal women with estrogen positive breast cancer, where the condition allows the tumor develops in the presence of estrogen.

Women with a BMI of 30 to 35 had about three times higher levels of estrogen in their blood than those who have a BMI of less than 25.
